Meanwhile, Over Here started with making things simply because I wanted to make them.

I took up watercolor because it felt almost impossible for me.

I like control. I like knowing where something is going. I like being able to fix things when they don’t go the way I planned. Watercolor is not very interested in any of that.

So I chose it on purpose.

It forced me to loosen my grip a little, let the paint move, and leave room for things I hadn’t planned. That became part of what I loved about it.

Now I paint whatever catches my attention. Fish, flowers, mushrooms, faces, patterns, and other small strange things. I like details, unexpected turns, and paintings that become something different from what I thought I was making.

Eventually, I started looking for ways to let those little paintings live somewhere beyond a drawer or a stack in my studio. That led to linen journals, each one featuring an original watercolor painting rather than a reproduction. From there, the idea became bigger than journals.

The name Meanwhile, Over Here came from the feeling behind all of it.

There is always something happening somewhere. Things to do, things to worry about, people doing bigger and louder things.

Meanwhile, over here, I’m making this.

A strange little fish. A page full of mushrooms. A painting that started as one thing and became another. Something useful made a little more beautiful. Something that exists mostly because making it was fun.

This is a place for those things.
